Sports massage treats the soft tissues of the body (muscles, fascia, tendons etc) through hands on manipulation and mobilisation of these tissues. It can be used to maintain and optimize the function of the musculoskeletal system during sports and exercise, to aid recovery from injury, or to give relief from postural or occupational strain. Techniques commonly used in sport’s massage include soft tissue mobilisation, muscle energy technique and neuromuscular technique.

Your sport’s massage therapist may also discuss exercises and stretching techniques with you, and will be able to refer you to specialists in other fields if necessary.
